Jessup Auto Plaza to Acquire
o’brien Chevrolet Franchise

CATHEDRAL CITY (January 15, 2007)---------------Jessup Auto Plaza, a third-generation, family-owned Coachella Valley automotive institution for nearly 70 years, has announced that the firm has entered into agreement to acquire O’Brien Chevrolet, a neighboring Cathedral City dealership. Pending required approval by General Motors, the transaction is expected to conclude by the end of February.

“We are excited about this opportunity to sell and service Chevrolet products,” said Andy Jessup, Jr., general manager of Jessup Auto Plaza. “It will fulfill a family dream that began with our grandfather, who founded the company in 1938.

“This is also a wonderful opportunity to add Chevrolet to the existing General Motors brands we already represent—Buick, Pontiac, GMC, Cadillac, Saab and Hummer. With the great array of cars, trucks and SUV’s that Chevrolet has, we will significantly broaden the overall selection we can offer the public.” Jessup, who also is president of the Cathedral City Automobile Dealers Association, said it was important to both his dealership and O’Brien Chevrolet owner Joe O’Brien that a key Chevrolet franchise remain in Cathedral City as well as in the 111 Auto Center in Cathedral City.

“The 111 Auto Center in Cathedral City is the number one auto center in the Coachella Valley, and Cathedral City itself leads all other desert cities in automobile sales,” Jessup said, citing the most recent edition of Wheelers Desert Letter, which reported that Cathedral City captured 44% of the auto market for the 3rd quarter, 2006.

During its 69-year history in the Coachella Valey, Jessup Auto Plaza has expanded several times to meet demand from a growing customer base.
